Jewellery care

Sterling silver is a soft, warm metal that gets better with wear. The marks, the patina, the soft polishing of edges where a piece has been touched by hands and clothes and skin: all of this is part of how the silver lives over time, not something to worry about.

A few simple things will help your piece stay at its best for years.

Wear it often

Silver tends to stay brighter when it's being worn regularly, so the more a piece is worn, the less you'll need to clean it.

Polish it gently

Every Almari order comes with a small polishing cloth. A minute or two of gentle rubbing is enough to bring back the brightness when a piece looks dull or tarnished. No water, no chemicals, just the cloth.

Avoid using silver dip or harsh polishes on textured or molten pieces, since these can strip back the marks that give the work its character.

Keep it away from harsh chemicals

Perfume, hairspray, suncream, chlorine, and household cleaners can all dull or damage silver over time. The simplest rule is to put your jewellery on last when getting ready, and take it off before swimming, washing up, or applying creams and lotions.

Store it carefully

Your piece arrives in a small faux suede pouch, which is the best place to keep it when you're not wearing it. Storing pieces separately stops them scratching each other, and somewhere dry and dark slows tarnishing.

If something doesn't look right

If your piece ever needs more than a polish, just send a message. Every piece from Almari comes with a lifetime guarantee, and most repairs can be done quickly at the bench.
