Bespoke commissions are some of my favourite pieces to make. They start with a conversation, sometimes a clear brief, sometimes just a feeling or a shape, and the work grows from there. I'll happily take on rings, necklaces, earrings, and pieces that don't quite fit into any of those.

Most commissions take around four to six weeks from the first sketch, and prices usually sit between £80 and £300 depending on the size and complexity of the piece. If you're not sure where to start, you don't need to know exactly what you want. A few words about what you're drawn to is enough to begin with.

  • A bracelet of small silver fish, made for a world champion cyclist, with links built strong enough to keep up with her.

  • A 30th birthday necklace with aquamarine moss, a softer, dustier stone chosen instead of the usual bright blue, alongside the initials of three best friends.

  • A sapphire alternative engagement ring in a molten style, with the stone held in place by claws.

What does the process look like?

It usually starts with a message. From there we'll go back and forth on what you're after, sometimes with sketches, sometimes with photos of stones or references. Once the design feels right, I'll get started, and I'll send progress photos along the way if you'd like them.

How long does a commission take?

Most commissions take around four to six weeks from the first sketch, though more involved pieces can take longer. If you have a specific date in mind, just mention it and I'll let you know honestly whether it's possible.

How much does it cost?

Most bespoke pieces sit between £80 and £300, depending on the size of the piece, the materials, and the time it takes. I'll always give you a price before we start, and there are no surprises later.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes, a 50% deposit is paid once the design is agreed, and the rest is paid when the piece is finished and ready to be sent. The deposit covers the cost of materials and the time spent making.

Can I use a stone or piece of silver I already have?

Yes, and these are often my favourite commissions. Inherited jewellery, old chains, single earrings whose pair has gone missing, beach finds. If you've got something that means something to you, I'd love to see if we can work it in.

What if I'm not sure exactly what I want?

That's completely fine, and a lot of commissions start that way. A few words about what you're drawn to, or a couple of reference images, is enough for us to begin with. The design tends to take shape through the conversation.

Is there anything you can't make?

Almost everything is possible, but I'm a solo studio so the work is mostly in sterling silver, with stones set into it. For very large or technically complex pieces (full diamond settings, certain mechanical clasps, anything that really needs a specialist) I'll always be honest if it's beyond what I can do well, and where possible I'll suggest someone who can.

Can it be a gift?

Yes, and gift commissions are some of the loveliest to work on. Just let me know when you'd like to give it, whether you'd like it gift-wrapped, and whether you'd like me to keep the packaging neutral so there are no surprises before the moment.
